For Parents of Students Receiving Special Education Services

We hope all LMACS families enjoyed the summer break. The Special Education Department welcomes students back to LMACS for the 2021-2022 school year. We are excited to begin a new school year.

As students return to full-time, in-person learning, it is more important than ever to build strong relationships with families and continue meaningful family engagement initiatives that may facilitate family participation.

The Lowell Middlesex Academy Charter School will continue to hold IEP meetings via Zoom or telephone conferences. If parents would prefer to participate in person, they will be set up with a Team member at school while the remaining members will be participating remotely. Team meeting invitations and the Parent’s Notice of Procedural Safeguards (also available on the LMACS website) will be sent electronically. Please contact the Special Education Coordinator if you prefer to receive documents via the US Postal System.

In addition, for those students who receive speech and language therapy sessions, they will continue to receive services remotely through Zoom or Google meet.

LMACS continues to request parents of students receiving special education services to  join us in developing a Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (PAC). Please consider joining or serving as an officer for the PAC.

Sincerely,

Patricia Harding

Special Education Coordinator
