POSITION: High School Humanities Teacher/Advisor
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
This position is responsible for instructing 9th – 12th grade students from diverse backgrounds in Humanities-related content. This position also assumes the role of Advisor to assigned groups of students. This is a unique teaching opportunity, offering the challenge to re-engage students in their education. The ideal candidate will have experience and/or knowledge in working with students, staff and faculty of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, racial and ethnic backgrounds, including those with different levels of academic preparation and varying physical and learning abilities. This position reports to the Director of the Lowell Middlesex Academy Charter School.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Develop and teach classes in Humanities area of expertise and interest and serve as an Academic Advisor for 15-20 students.
- Work collaboratively with small staff as a team, examining practice for continuous curriculum and instructional improvement.
- Participate fully in professional development week before and after the student academic year.
- Foster a positive classroom learning environment and contribute to a positive school climate that provides safety, support, discipline and structure.
- Utilize appropriate technology to facilitate teaching and learning.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in related Humanities field

POSITION: School Nurse
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate High School Nurse to join our educational institution and provide essential healthcare services to our students. As a High School Nurse, you will play a crucial role in promoting and maintaining the health and well-being of our student population. You will collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a safe and healthy learning environment.. This position reports directly to the Executive Director.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Provide direct nursing care to students in accordance with professional standards, state regulations, and school policies.
- Assess and evaluate students’ health conditions, including conducting screenings, health assessments, and maintaining accurate health records.
- Administer medications, treatments, and first aid to students as needed, ensuring compliance with prescribed protocols and maintaining proper documentation.
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies and provide immediate care and assistance to students and staff.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and school administrators to develop individualized healthcare plans for students with chronic illnesses or special medical needs.
- Educate students, parents, and staff on health-related topics, including disease prevention, hygiene practices, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
- Conduct health screenings, immunization audits, and health promotion activities within the school community.
- Monitor and manage the school’s health clinic, including maintaining inventory of medical supplies and equipment.
- Provide support and guidance to students and families dealing with health-related issues and refer them to appropriate community resources when necessary.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, including teachers, administrators, and counselors, to identify and address the physical and emotional needs of of the school community.
- Stay up-to-date with current healthcare practices, regulations, and trends in school nursing.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license and current CPR certification
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Proven experience in pediatric, community, or school nursing.
- Knowledge of child and adolescent health issues, common illnesses, and chronic conditions.
- Strong assessment and critical-thinking skills to recognize and respond to emergent situations.
- Experience and/or knowledge in working with students, staff and faculty of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including those with different levels of academic preparation and varying physical and learning abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students, parents, staff, and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in handling sensitive medical information.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record systems and basic computer skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Adherence to professional nursing standards and commitment to continuous professional development.
SALARY: $55,000.00 – $65,000.00 per year

POSITION: Special Education Teacher
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
This position is responsible for planning, supporting and teaching in full inclusion high school classrooms. This is a unique opportunity, offering the challenge to re-engage students in their education. This position reports to the Director of the Lowell Middlesex Academy Charter School.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Modify academic curriculum to meet the needs of student learners with special needs
- Update and revise Individual Educational Plans as needed.
- Provide individual support to students as needed.
- Utilize a team-teaching approach with regular educational teachers and provide in-class suppor
- Assist the director and team in developing a strong, comprehensive, alternative curriculum that demonstrates quality and challenges students.
- Collaborate with Director and colleagues in integrating life/social skills strategies across the school’s curriculum and human service components.
- Fulfill all case management, tracking, and reporting requirements as assigned.
- Foster a positive classroom learning environment and contribute to a positive school climate that provides safety, support, discipline and structure.
- Create Behavior Functional Assessments
- Write Progress Reports

QUALIFICATIONS:
- MA Teacher License in Special Needs or a Degree in Special Education, or ability to apply for license within one year of hire
