Who can attend LMACS?
Any Massachusetts resident between the ages of 16 – 21 can apply, but Lowell residents are given first priority as required by our charter.

Where is LMACS located?
LMACS is located in downtown Lowell MA at 67 Middle Street on the 2nd floor.

Is there a cost to apply or to attend LMACS?
No. LMACS is a public school and therefore free to residents of Massachusetts.

What is the size of LMACS student body?
LMACS enrolls between 100 and 120 students on average.

What is the student/teacher ratio?

Most classes have a 12/1 student/teacher ratio.

Does LMACS have the same school vacations as other public schools?
Yes, we have the same school vacations and holidays as other public schools.

Is transportation provided through the school?
Students use public transportation, drive or walk to school.

If students drive to school, where do they park?
Students park in the Roy Garage on Market Street in Lowell. Parking tickets are validated at the school.

Where do students eat lunch?
Lunch is provided free of charge to all LMACS students at the MCC cafeteria.

Does LMACS have a sports program?
LMACS has a limited physical education program and is building an intramural program.

Are advanced students able to take AP classes?

All students are eligible to take classes at Middlesex Community College (MCC) for college credit under dual enrollment.

What is a Designated Adult?
We require that all students have a Designated Adult (DA) who has accepted the responsibility of helping the student achieve their high school diploma. A Designated Adult may be a parent, guardian or other adult actively involved in the student’s life.

How are Designated Adults involved with their students’ education?
Yes, all DAs receive calls from advisors every other week. There are three parents’ nights every year and parents chair our Parent Advisory Committee. In addition, a parent or designated adult must sign a contract with the school, representing our mutual commitment to supporting your student.

Does LMACS accept students with IEPs?
Yes, LMACS has special education services available for students.

Is smoking permitted at LMACS?

Massachusetts law prohibits smoking on all school property.

What are the school hours?

School hours are 8:30 to 3:00.

Do graduates earn a high school diploma?
LMACS graduate earn a high school diploma.

Are students required to pass the MCAS tests?

Yes, all Massachusetts graduates must pass MCAS tests in order to earn a high school diploma.

Are Social Workers available to meet with the students at LMACS?
LMACS has Social Workers on staff to meet with students.

Is there a day care facility available within the school?
Social workers help students arrange for day care at a CTI facility in the city. There is no facility within the school.

Does LMACS run a summer school program?
There is no summer school program at this time.

When can my student enroll?
We accept students three times per school year – August, November and March.

My student has been out of school for several years. Can they still apply at your school?
Yes, as long as the student is able to complete all graduation requirements before they reach the age of 21.
