Welcome to the 2025–2026 School Year!

Dear Students, Parents, and Designated Adults,

I hope you all enjoyed a restful and rejuvenating summer. As we prepare to launch the 2025–2026 school year, the staff at LMACS is hard at work planning a year filled with growth, learning, and connection. We recently celebrated the achievements of the Class of 2025, and now we’re excited to welcome both returning and new students to our school community.

First Week of School
The first day of classes for all students is Wednesday, August 27, 2025. Please note the adjusted schedule for opening week:

  • Wednesday, August 27: 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM
  • Thursday, August 28: 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM
  • School will be closed on Friday, August 29 and Monday, September 1 in observance of Labor Day.

New This Year: Big Picture Learning & Expanded Programming
This year marks an exciting new chapter for LMACS as we officially launch our Big Picture Learning (BPL) model. This innovative approach to education centers each student’s learning around their interests, goals, and real-world experiences. Highlights of the new model include:

  • Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) tailored to student strengths and aspirations
  • Career exploration and mentorship through our Leaving to Learn (LTL) experiences
  • Project-based learning connected to meaningful, real-life work
  • A focus on building agency, purpose, and voice

To support this work and accommodate growing programming, we’ve moved from our first-floor space to a larger, updated home on the third floor of the Pollard Building. This move allows us to expand advising time, offer flexible scheduling, and create more space for collaboration, creativity, and connection.

We can’t wait to begin this exciting new school year with you. If you have any questions before the first day, don’t hesitate to reach out. Let’s make 2025–2026 a year of purpose, growth, and possibility—together.
