December ’21 Letter from the Director

Dear Parent/Designated Adult:

Grades have now been sent home the Fall term of the 2021-2022 school year.  As we emphasize with the students: Effort is the most important determinant of success in school and in life.  Please call your student’s advisor, if you wish to discuss the grades. Another key ingredient to student achievement is attendance; and we have found that our students who have strong, consistent attendance succeed in our school.

This fall and winter, we have seen a significant increase in enrollment at LMACS which is directly attributed to so many of you. As we interview potential new students, so many report that they have heard about our school from people that they know. So, a sincere thank you to all of you who support and promote our school, we hear about it and we appreciate it.

Please let me know if you would like to be part of our Parent Advisory Council.  We will meet three times a year.  This would be an important service to the school.  The school will try to vary meeting times in order to accommodate Parent/Designated Adult work schedules.

Another important milestone in the lives of our student’s is their high school graduation. Please join me in congratulating the following ten students who have completed all of their high school requirements:

  • Cameron Boisvert – Lowell
  • Dustin Kyle Burris – Lowell
  • Molly Christiansen – Lowell
  • Angelina Matos – Lowell
  • Alexandria Mom – Lowell
  • Norelia Nunez – Lowell
  • Jakob Savage – Billerica
  • Aiden Shaw – Lowell
  • Deanna Spencer –Lowell
  • Derick Veillette – Ashby

In the weeks ahead we will be inviting these graduates back to school for a small celebration and recognition of their accomplishment and we will urge them all to join us in June for a walk across the stage and a grand finale to cap off their high school experience.

As the cold weather approaches, we would like to notify parents and students of LMACS school cancellation policy.  In the event that weather conditions should cause LMACS to cancel classes for the day, we will update the LMACS website, which is: LMACS.org.  Additionally, a cancellation announcement would be made on TV WCVB Channel 5.  If you do not specifically hear or see Lowell Middlesex Academy Charter School is closed, there will be a regular school day.  A closing or delay of Lowell Public Schools does not close or delay LMACS.

Students and parents may also sign up for text or email delivery of the school closings on the Channel 5 website: http://www.thebostonchannel.com/closingssignup/index.html

We look forward to a productive semester and wish everyone a Happy Holiday.

Sincerely,

Sean J. McCarthy Ed. D
